Kendra Shirley, Master-level intern
“Providing an inclusive space for my clients to share their unique identities, worldviews, and culture is important for me. My goal is to support and collaborate with my clients to empower them to become the best version of themselves.”
I am currently receiving my master's degree for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Providence, and I obtained my bachelor's in Developmental Psychology at Eastern State University. I currently hold an agency affiliated license as a Mental Health Counselor and have experience working with multiple demographics.
My experience ranges from working with all ages in acute psychiatric units, behavioral therapy for adolescents, and addiction rehabilitation for women and families. Through person-centered therapy, dialect behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I will support and collaborate with my clients to empower them to become the best version of themselves. I hope to provide my clients with a safe space by using an integrative approach that is tailored to each client's wants and needs. Providing an inclusive space for my clients to share their unique identities, worldviews, and culture is important for me. I passionately believe in advocating for minorities, the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as individuals who have experienced trauma, and postpartum disorders.
My goal is to help each of my clients gain the proper skills to overcome obstacles through individualized treatment plans. I am eager for the chance to be your listening ear and support system and hope to help you reach your full potential as we navigate through your challenges together.
Outside of my work and schooling, I like to spend time traveling, writing, hiking, or taking my dogs to the dog park.
